New logistics center aims to speed delivery times across North America

Volvo Penta announced the opening of the new Volvo Group Central Parts Distribution Center in Byhalia, Mississippi, in a move to optimize delivery performance and efficiency for dealers and OEM customers in North America.

As the anchor tenant of a new industrial park, the one million square-foot state-of-the-art Volvo Group facility will support Volvo Penta recreational marine, commercial marine and industrial business segments, as well as all Volvo Group business areas in North America, and will open for business November 24.

Located outside of Memphis, the Byhalia site was selected for its close proximity to established distribution networks reaching the full United States. The location will also allow for additional flexibility in later cut-off times for dealer and emergency orders.

At the same time, Volvo Penta is participating in the new Central Core Warehouse being established by the Volvo Group in Hagerstown, Maryland, where customers can exchange engine cores.

“The new facility in Byhalia is the keystone of a comprehensive optimization of the North American aftermarket parts distribution network for Volvo Penta,” said Ron Huibers, president of Volvo Penta of the Americas. “Leveraging the size and power of the Volvo Group, these improvements to our North American logistics network will increase efficiency and provide faster response times.”
