ACL Christens Its New Vessel Atlantic Sun
Atlantic Container Line (ACL) held a christening ceremony for its new G4 vessel, the Atlantic Sun, on Wednesday, at FAPS Port Newark Auto Marine Terminal at the Port of New York & New Jersey. The ACL G4 vessels are the first of their kind and the largest multipurpose RoRo/Containerships ever built. They incorporate an innovative design that increases capacity without significantly changing the dimensions of the vessel. The G4s are bigger, greener and more efficient than their predecessors.
PVA Supports Proposed Changes to Chicago Harbor Safety Zone
This week, PVA submitted comments in support of the Coast Guard's proposal to reduce the size of the current Navy Pier Southeast Safety Zone within the Chicago Harbor.PVA's Chicago members requested the association's support of this proposal, which would reduce the size of the Safety Zone and provide relief to local operators. Coast Guard proposed this change to allow the Chicago Harbor Lock to remain in full operation during regularly scheduled periodic fireworks displays.
