New Trawler Launched in Poland
A launching ceremony for the partly outfitted fishing trawler M/V Voyager took place February 21 at Newbuilding Division of Nauta Shiprepair Yard in GdaĆsk, Poland. It will be one of the most powerful fishing vessels in its class. Voyager is 86.4 m long and 17.8 m wide. The loading capacity is more than 3,200 cubic meters. The trawler will be fishing in the North Atlantic, the area known for its challenging weather.

Cammell Laird Launches Claire House Charity Kite Boat
Merseyside shipyard and engineering company Cammell Laird held a special ceremony to launch a unique kite boat designed to raise funds for charity Claire House Childrenâs Hospice. The âCL Challengerâ was designed by retired shipyard naval architect Bill Owen incorporating a kite as the main power source to propel the vessel. The eco-friendly vessel also generates electric power for radio, lights and GPS through batteries charged via solar panel.
ABS Issues First Cyber Safety Notation
ABS said it has issued its first notation for the ABS Guide for Cybersecurity Implementation for the marine and offshore Industries. âThe focus on cyber safety is increasing, and that is changing the expectations industry has for classification services,â explained ABS Chairman, President and CEO, Christopher J. McDermott Acquires New Pipelay and Construction Vessel
McDermott International, Inc. announced it has acquired the newly built pipelay and construction vessel Amazon to better position the company for ultradeepwater and SURF projects. McDermott plans to upgrade the vessel to address the ultradeepwater market with a state-of-the-art J-lay system outfitted with the latest vessel technology. In the near term, the company plans to make minor capital expenditure investments to bring the vessel up to company standards.
Marine Jet Power Wins Korean Coast Guard Contracts
Marine Jet Power has been awarded two new contracts to supply waterjets for another eight units 500T Patrol Vessels for the Korean Coast Guard: five vessels to be built by Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction and three vessels to be built by Kangnam Corporation. The propulsion system comprises a MJP 950 double drive and MJP 750 double booster waterjets. Powered by four diesel engines at a total of 14 MW the top speed is over 35 knots.
De Boer Remorquage SARL Orders Custom Tugs from Damen
Baggerbedrijf De Boer B.V. (Dutch Dredging B.V.) has ordered two custom, special-purpose tugs to be built at Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld in the Netherlands through the subsidiairy De Boer Remorquage SARL. The tugs are for a 10-year contract with Grand Port Maritime de Guyane in the ports of Cayenne and Kourou in French Guyana. Their primary functions will be assisting vessels entering and leaving port, and rendering help in the event of emergencies including fire-fighting.

DP World Cleared of Misconduct over Djibouti Terminal
The London Court of International Arbitration has cleared DP World, one of the world's biggest port operators, of all charges of misconduct over a concession to operate a container terminal in Djibouti, Dubai's government said on Tuesday. In 2014 the government of the East African country lodged claims accusing DP World, majority-owned by the Dubai government, of illegal payments to secure a 50-year concession for the Doraleh Container Terminal, the Dubai government said.
