BigRoll to Continue as Part of Roll Group
BigRoll will continue services as part of Roll Group. With the merger of the BigRoll organization, Roll Group will expand its fleet with of two module carriers in combination with the five existing multifunctional heavy lift, semi-submersible Ro-Ro vessels. The combination of BigRoll and RollDock allows for greater flexibility and enables Roll Group to provide improved Ro-Ro solutions to clients.
Hong to Take up New Role at Saltchuk
Young Brothers, Ltd president Glenn Hong will retire at the end of the year to undertake a new leadership role with parent company Saltchuk, focusing on Hawaii business initiatives effective January 1, 2018. Hong began at Young Brothers in 1991 as vice president of finance and government affairs, coming from Hawaiian Electric Industries. In 1992, he assumed the presidency and immediately set to work to infuse the organization with a customer-driven mindset.
First Ocean Voyage of the Training Ship Unión
On its first ocean voyage to Europe, the training ship ‘Unión’ – a large sailed vessel belonging to the Peruvian Navy – called on the port of Cádiz, as part of its second training mission and its first mission with a stop in Europe. On the request of the shipbuilder SIMA and the Peruvian Navy, the engineering and technology group SENER has developed the ship’s complete stability booklet, which required conducting advanced studies of its weights and ballast under various loads.
SCHOTTEL Thrusters Propel New Australian Dredger
A newly built 60-meter trailing suction hopper dredger Tommy Norton started work to deliver safe and reliable ocean access for the commercial vessels, oil and gas suppliers and commercial fishing fleet that cross the entrance bar to the Gippsland Lakes area. The dredger is the first built by Damen Shipyards Group for Australia, and features propulsion is provided by two SCHOTTEL Rudderpropellers type SRP 330 fixed pitch.
