Bulk Carrier Rescues Fishermen off Peru
The commercial bulk carrier Global Vega rescued seven fishermen in distress on May 21 off the coast of Peru. While Global Vega was sailing from the port of Acajutla, El Salvador, to the port of Callao, Peru, the vessel came upon a fishing boat having engine trouble. Food and fresh water were provided to the fishermen and their boat was moored to Global Vega. Afterward, the fishermen and their boat were safely delivered to the Peruvian Coast Guard.
Flex LNG signs deals to buy six new vessels
Oslo-listed Flex LNG has signed contracts to buy six new liquefied natural gas (LNG) vessels for its fleet by 2019, as it bets on increasing fuel demand from Britain and other countries, its chief executive told Reuters. The gas shipping company said earlier this year it was considering buying the six vessels, each with around 170,000 cubic metres of capacity, subject to securing funding for the $1.2 billion transaction.
New Simulator Operators Training Course
eMaritime group have written a new five-day Simulator Operators Training Course (SOTC) and will launch it with a free one-off session from June 19-23, 2017 at eMaritime Group HQ, Whiteley, Hampshire. The SOTC course has been written to give those who wish to teach on a maritime simulator the necessary skills, teaching techniques and aids within a standard bridge simulator environment. The course is generic to simulator training in general and so can be applied to any make or model of simulator.

Plenty Ships Wins Chinese Ferry Order
CoCo Yachts – Plenty Ships has won an order with Zhuhai Fast Ferry Company to build two aluminum high speed ferries. Zhuhai Fast Ferry Company has several fast ferries in its fleet, including two CoCo Yachts designed Coastal Cruiser 288, which are sailing between Zhuhai port and the Chinese Ferry Terminal in Hong Kong. The new designed Coastal Cruisers 356 will start the service between Zhuhai and the islands in the Pearl River delta.
