Australia’s New Patrol Boat Named Cape Fourcroy
The Australian Navy’s ninth Cape-class patrol boat was officially named during a ceremony held at the HMAS Stirling naval base in Western Australia. Designed and constructed by Austal, the vessel is the first of two Cape-class patrol boats to be delivered to the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) under a A$63 million contract, named ADV Cape Fourcroy after the western most tip of Bathurst Island in the Northern Territory.

New Dredger for North American Sand & Gravel Operation
Rohr-Idreco recently completed installation of a RISD350-M 14” (350 mm) electric dredge for application in the sand & gravel market. The customer needed a new and efficient deep-digging electric dredge. As Rohr-Idreco is a manufacturer of modular dredges with the latest technology, the customer decided to move forward with the dredge, which has a digging depth of 90 ft. (28 m) with production capacity in excess of 400 tph.
Ampelmann Debuts S-type Walk-to-Work System
Dutch company Ampelmann says it has designed its latest motion compensation access system, the S-type, as a cost effective and safe option in the transportation of workers and luggage to and from offshore platforms. The company, a provider of offshore access systems to the energy industry, is launching the new Walk-to-Work system as an alternative to using helicopters or baskets. In total, the cost of using the system will be around 30 perceent cheaper than helicopters, the manufacturer said.
Cutter Suction Dredger Delivered to Heuvelman Ibis
A Damen Cutter Suction Dredger (CSD) 350 has been delivered from Damen Dredging Equipment in Nijkerk, the Netherlands, to start work on a canal dredging assignment in the province of Groningen, in the north of the country. In order to execute the project, which involves the extraction of approximately 220,000m³ of sediment from the Winschoterdiep canal, the Netherlands-based marine contractor Heuvelman Ibis required a heavy-duty dredger at short notice.
