New Lobster Boat Under Construction in North Carolina
Custom Steel Boats, Inc. of Merritt, N.C., in collaboration with Ted & Todd’s Marine of Beaufort, N.C., announced a new construction project. Custom Steel Boats is building a 70-foot steel hull lobster boat, Two Dukes, for Captain Eric, Inc of Seaville, N.J. The vessel will be used in the waters off of New Jersey as well as North Carolina to catch lobster. The vessel was designed by DeJong and Lebet in Jacksonville, Fla. to meet the needs of the customer.
PBES Lithium Energy Storage for HH Ferries
Plan B Energy Storage (PBES) said it has secured the energy storage supply contract for the two largest battery-powered ferries in the world. Each of the two Scandlines Helsingborg-Helsingör ferries will have 4.16 MWh batteries to provide power for primary propulsion. The fully electric ferries will carry their part of more than 7.4 million passengers and 1.9 million vehicles annually with zero emissions.
Inland Marine Service Appoints New Leadership
Four corporate professionals have recently joined Inland Marine Service (IMS), announced Dave Hammond, President of Inland Marine Service. The new hires are Kristina Luna, HR Manager; Moses Garza, Tankerman Supervisor; Caleb King, Manager SHEQ/Compliance Director; and Brian Howell, Assistant Port Engineer. Jumbo’s Heavy Lift Crane Vessel Repaired
A three-week repair project on the Jumbo Javelin, a DP2 Heavy Lift Crane Vessel owned and operated by Jumbo, has been completed Damen Shiprepair Van Brink Rotterdam in the Netherlands. The major aspect of the repair was the replacement of the frames of 15 box coolers. To minimize the time spent in dock, 12 of these were prefabricated prior to the Jumbo Javelin arriving at Van Brink, and the remaining three were built during the docking period.

World's First LNG-Powered Cruise Ships: Shell to Supply Fuel
Shell Western LNG B.V. (Shell) signed a supply agreement with Carnival Corporation & plc (Carnival) to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) to fuel two of the world’s largest passenger cruise ships. Under the agreement, Shell will supply LNG for the world’s first LNG-powered cruise ships due to start sailing in northwest Europe and the Mediterranean in 2019. This will be the first time LNG in dual-fuel engines will be used in the cruise industry to power ships both in port and at sea.
