AIDA Cruises to Christen its New Flagship Hamburg
AIDA Cruises will help the Port of Hamburg ring in its 827th anniversary with the christening if its new flagship, AIDAprima. AIDA Cruises will christen its 11th ship, AIDAprima, in Hamburg on May 7, 2016 as part of the celebrations for the 827th Hamburg Port Anniversary. From April 30, 2016, Hamburg will be the home port for AIDAprima’s seven-day round trips to Western Europe metropolises such as London, Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam.
Steady Growth Recorded by MCI for 2015
Ship registry Maritime Cook Islands (MCI) registered an 11 percent growth in the fleet last year with 201 new vessels, up from 184 in 2014. The fleet grew from 473 vessels in 2014 to 525 vessels at the end of December. In tonnage added terms in 2015, this is equal to 318,245 gross tons or a 21 percent increase. MCI'latest figures show that 149 Vessels were de-registered in 2015 and these were mainly yachts coming to the end of a three or five year registration.
Sanmar Launches First VectRA 3000 Tug
Sanmar’s first Voith Schneider Propeller (VSP) tug of VectRA 3000 series, M/T ARES, being constructed for Italian tug operator Tripmare S.p.a. of Trieste, has been launched to sea at Sanmar Shipyard, Altinova last week. The vessel has been carried from the tugboat production hall to the floating dock by the shipyard’s modular transport system. VectRA 3000 series has been designed by the Canadian naval architects Robert Allan Ltd.
