Liberian Registry Implements Cost-saving Measures
The Liberian Registry announced the introduction of a range of cost-saving provisions which it said will help mitigate the burden and financial strain currently being placed on owners and operators of Liberian-flag vessels during the sustained economic downturn in the maritime and offshore sectors. G6 Alliance Cancels Some Asia-Europe Sailings
Facing less-than-expected market demand, members of the G6 Alliance announced additional void sailings within the container shippers’ Asia-Europe service, suspending its Loop 6 service until further notice. The G6 Alliance, which consists of APL, Hapag-Lloyd, Hyundai Merchant Marine, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Nippon Yusen Kaisha and Orient Overseas Container Line, said it continues to offer various services between Asia and Europe covering major port pairs with weekly sailings.
Danish Princess to Name Stenaweco Impulse
The newly constructed chemical and product tanker Stenaweco Impulse will be named by her godmother H.R.H. Crown Princess Mary of Denmark at a June 13 ceremony on Langelinie Quay in Copenhagen. The Stenaweco Impulse is the sixth in a series of 13 IMOIIMAX tankers ordered by Stena Bulk. The vessel is owned by Stena Weco in a joint venture between Swedish Stena Bulk and Danish Weco Shipping. It was built by the Chinese Shipyard GSI (Guangzhou Shipbuilding International).
New Series of Trawlers Built to RS class
Construction of a new series of trawler-seiner pr. SK-3101R has been commenced at the Shipyard Yantar (Kaliningrad). Project SK-3101R was designed by Skipskompetanse, Norway.

Meercat Workboat for Briggs Marine
U.K.-based Meercat Workboats has sold a custom built monohull workboat to Briggs Marine. The vessel (Hull no. 28) is 15.5m LOA, and 6m beam. Fabrication is well under way at Meercat’s Portchester facility in Portsmouth, Hampshire, with Briggs Marine to take to delivery later this year. The workboat has been configured to facilitate a deck cargo capacity of 20 metric tons and a liquid cargo capacity of sum 2 x 10,000 liters; with 2 x Doosan main engines and a BETA Marine 21kVA generator.
