The newly constructed chemical and product tanker Stenaweco Impulse will be named by her godmother H.R.H. Crown Princess Mary of Denmark at a June 13 ceremony on Langelinie Quay in Copenhagen.
The Stenaweco Impulse is the sixth in a series of 13 IMOIIMAX tankers ordered by Stena Bulk. The vessel is owned by Stena Weco in a joint venture between Swedish Stena Bulk and Danish Weco Shipping. It was built by the Chinese Shipyard GSI (Guangzhou Shipbuilding International).
The vessel’s technical design, developed by Stena Teknik together with the shipyard, offers extra large cargo flexibility, a high level of safety and economical fuel consumption, according to Stena Weco. When sailing at service speed, the fuel consumption is reportedly 10-20 percent lower than that of equivalent vessels.
The Stenaweco Impulse (length: 183 meters, beam: 32 meters, deadweight: 50,000 tons), like the other 13 IMOIIMAX tankers, will sail in Stena Weco’s global logistics system and will transport vegetable oils, chemicals as well as oil- and petroleum products. The vessel has 18 tanks, each with a capacity of 3,000 m3.
