Palfinger Wins Deck Equipment Package
Palfinger Marine signed a contract with Turkish shipyard Cemre to supply a deck equipment package to a Havyard 832 MPV vessel being built for Esvagt. The package from Palfinger consists of cranes, winches and offshore equipment. The MPV will measure 81.9 x 17.16 m, with a deck area of 620 sq. m., a speed of 15 knots and a bollard pull of 100 tons. The delivery of the equipment is scheduled for 2017.

Torched Containership Returned to its Owners
Container vessel CCNI Arauco has been returned to its owners after a fire broke out in its aft container hold on September 1. Ardent emergency response crews worked with local firefighters to extinguish the fire. Other experts from Ardent contained the situation with local authorities and worked with all parties with follow-on operations. The aft hold was partly flooded to extinguish the fire, subsequently contaminating the water in the hold.
Hapag-Lloyd Invests in its Reefer Fleet
Announcing further investment in container fleet, liner shipping company Hapag-Lloyd has ordered a total of 5,750 refrigerated containers (reefers) of the latest generation – including 5,000 x 40-foot and 750 x 20-foot units. In addition, 1,000 of the new containers are equipped with “controlled atmosphere” technology, which allows various types of fruits and vegetables to be transported for longer periods of time while maintaining a consistent quality.
