GAC Appointed as Thorco’s Ship Agent in Singapore
GAC Singapore announced today it will provide Thorco Shipping with agency services for its vessels calling at Singapore, including the loading and discharging of break-bulk and heavy lift cargoes at Jurong port. The Copenhagen-based Thorco operates a fleet of more than 80 multi-purpose general cargo and heavy lift tweendeck vessels trading worldwide, primarily in the project and break bulk sectors.
Carrier On-Time Percentage Increased in Feb
The on-time percentage of liner services improved slightly in February, but the ships that missed their berthing window missed it by a wider margin due in large part to labor strife at West Coast U.S. ports, according to this month's Carrier Performance Insight from Drewry. 55% of ships in the three key East-West trades arrived within +/- 24 hours from the advertised ETA, up 6.6% against January’s historic low of 49%.

Raytheon Anschütz Supplies INS to Chipolbrok
Raytheon Anschütz supplied its Synapsis Integrated Navigation System (INS) to a series of four new 32,000 DWT MPP heavy-lift vessels being built at Shanghai Shipyard for the Chinese-Polish joint stock shipping company Chipolbrok. The INS supplied includes X- and S-band radars as well as four Synapsis bridge workstations for chart radar and ECDIS with radar video overlay, the German navigation system manufacturer said.
New Portsmouth Office for IMES
IMES informs it has moved to premises in Portsmouth as the company targets further strategic growth. The new 5,500 sq ft premises, based at Voyager Park on Portfield Road, Portsmouth, feature a load testing area for lifting equipment, a component assembly area and purpose-built painting area. IMES, which is headquartered in Aberdeen, has a team of 70 across its seven operations. The company’s Portsmouth operation was previously based at the city’s Portfield Industrial Estate.

A DNV Class A certified NAUTIS Full Mission Bridge Simulator was delivered and installed by VSTEP at the Ho Chi Minh City Maritime Vocational College in Vietnam. The simulator delivered is a NAUTIS Class A Full Mission Bridge simulator with a 270° field of view through projection. A NAUTIS Instructor Station was also installed. The Maritime Vocational College is a higher education institution in Ho Chi Minh City.

BG Group Produces First Oil from Knarr Field
BG Group announced the Petrojarl Knarr floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel had started production from the Knarr oil field in the North Sea, offshore Norway. The FPSO has been leased from Teekay Corporation and is moored approximately 120 kilometers off the Norwegian coast. It has a production capacity of 63,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day and a storage capacity of 800,000 barrels.
