Ferus Smit Launches Newbuild Bulker

Arklow Breeze is the sixth and final vessel of a series to be delivered to a client from the city of Arklow, Ireland. The design is a bulk oriented general cargo ship that will be mainly employed in the shipment of wheat, corn and other bulk commodities in European waters. Arklow Breeze will be delivered in April 2015.
DNV GL Launches Rules for US Fishing Fleet
The fishing vessel industry fatality rate is 30 times higher than the average of all U.S. industries. To address this, U.S. legislation requires that all new fishing vessels larger than 50 feet must be built to classification rules. DNV GL is the only classification society to develop rules specifically for the U.S. domestic fishing fleet, addressing how fishing vessels are designed, built and maintained for safety.
Liebherr to Supply Four Cranes to Australia
Liebherr Container Cranes has recently completed the testing of articulated boom cranes in its Killarney facility in Ireland. The complete articulated boom and main beam of one of the cranes for Port Botany was assembled in Liebherr Container Cranes facility on a special test bed, where it was tested. This articulated boom design allows these large cranes to operate within the height restrictions prevailing at Port Botany, due to its close proximity to Sydney airport, Liebherr said.
New Orleans Cargo Totals at 14-year High
