To optimize vessel’s engine performance and efficiency, LUKOIL Marine Lubricants has developed the iCOlube system, which had its U.K. official launch on September 8, 2015 in London. According to LUKOIL, the iCOlube cylinder oil lubrication unit tailors the alkalinity reserve to engine load and fuel. The feed rate always stays at optimum level, while only the fuel sulphur content needs to be entered.

Incat Crowther announced it has been commissioned to design a 63-meter monohull passenger ferry vessel for an undisclosed operator in Central American. The main deck features a cabin hosting 286 first-class seats, 20 lounge seats, four handicap accommodation seating areas, and a children’s play area with surrounding seating. The aft deck features a cargo room with cargo loading gates, able to fit a portable conveyor belt for loading and unloading.

The Crowley-managed, Philadelphia Express – a 3,237 TEU containership – recently provided assistance to nine Cubans on a makeshift raft adrift near Key West, Fla. As the vessel was steaming from Houston, Texas to Savannah, Ga., crewmembers spotted the floating object with people aboard waving in distress. Captain D.A. Sulin, master, Philadelphia Express, began circling back to the position of the raft and notified U.S. Coast Guard Sector Key West of the situation.

Royal Dutch Shell has abandoned its Arctic search for oil after failing to find enough crude in a move that will appease environmental campaigners and shareholders who said its project was too expensive and risky.
