Austal Delivers Record Profit Increases
Shipbuilder Austal Limited announced it has delivered record revenue and record earnings for the year ended June 30, 2015, with Net Profit After Tax (NPAT) of $53.2 million, a 66.8 percent increase on FY2014. Maersk Seeks to Shut Janice in UK North Sea
Maersk Oil said on Wednesday it would seek regulatory permission to shut its Janice installation, which produces around 7,000 barrels per day (bpd) from three UK North Sea oilfields, as the Danish firm reviews its operations due to falling oil prices. It is one of the first North Sea oil fields to be threatened with closure due to the drop in prices, with Brent crude futures having plunged to around $43 a barrel from over $100 a barrel last June.
Hapag-Lloyd Continues on Path for Profits
Container shipper Hapag-Lloyd said it has increased transport volumes and revenue as well as earnings in the first half of 2015 as volume growth was driven by a merger with Compañía Sud Americana de Vapores (CSAV) that made Hapag-Lloyd the fourth largest carrier globally by capacity. The transport volume increased to around 3.7 million TEU in the first six months of 2015, up 29.4 percent compared to the same period in 2014 and mainly due to the merger with CSAV, the shipper said.

Ulstein Verft Launches its Largest Ship to Date
On August25, shipbuilder Ulstein Verft launched from its dock hall a special offshore construction vessel, Yno 302, for Island Offshore and Edison Chouest Offshore. The newbuild measures close to 160 meters in length with at beam of 30 meters, making her the largest offshore vessel built at Ulstein Verft to date. A video of the launch is available here. According to the builder, the vessel’s total steel volume is about 8,800 metric tons – approximately the same as five platform supply vessels.

Demand Rising for Cyrogenic Valves in Marine Sector
UK-based manufacturer of cryogenic valves Bestobell Marine said it has seen a major increase in demand for its cryogenic valves from the marine sector in the U.S. This is largely due to the new Emissions Control Areas (ECA) which is increasing the number of dual-fuel vessels being commissioned which require cryogenic valves. One of the first major contracts that Bestobell secured in the marine sector in the U.S. was for the Harvey Gulf International Marine ‘Going Green’ project.
