Aliança: Second Flagship in the Cabotage Fleet Christened
With the christening of the new container ship âVicente Pinzónâ, the Hamburg Süd subsidiary AlianÒ«a has -- for the moment -- completed the expansion and modernization of its fleet. In the past two years, AlianÒ«a has launched a total of six newbuildings for its cabotage services, four of which feature a slot capacity of 3,800 TEU each and two with 4,800 TEU each. All newbuildings have set new standards in the Brazilian coastal routes in terms of their capacity and environmental characteristic.
Stolt Tankers Buys Three Ships
Stolt-Nielsen Limited (Oslo Bors: SNI) announced that Stolt Tankers B.V. has agreed to acquire three 5,800 dwt fully stainless steel parcel tankers from Odfjell Tankers AS. The ships, which were built in 1997-1998 and are sister ships of three tankers currently operated by Stolt Tankers, are expected to join the Stolt-Nielsen Inter-Europe Service by the end of August 2015. Verotecâs VMEbus Sails Through Shock Test
Verotec has supplied suites of five different VMEbus-based systems to a global US-based naval and marine systems integrator. The systems will be used in military shipboard applications, so meeting exacting shock and vibration requirements was a critical requirement. Each system consist of a VMEbus backplane and two military grade power converters mounted in custom plug-in modules in special subracks based on Verotecâs KM6-HD family.

Grounded Tanker Refloats Itself, Heads for Port of Pascagoula
The stranded tanker SCF Khibiny on June 20 refloated itself without third party assistance and stayed at the anchorage of the port of Istanbul, SCF Group said Tuesday. No crew members were hurt, and no damage was caused to the vessel or its cargo. On 22 June, after the vessel received clearance from port authorities and classification society, the SCF Khibiny continued her journey as normal. The SCF Khibiny will unload her cargo at the Port of Pascagoula, USA.

Naki joined Sanmar Shipyards in 2007 immediately on qualifying as a naval architect and marine engineer. He has since gone on to obtain an MBA at Yeditepe University in Istanbul, Turkeyâs leading educational establishment.
