New Operations Director for CTI Marine
Maritime travel specialist CTI Marine has appointed Steve Harrop as Operations Director. Harrop joins the company from Dubai based Destinations of the World Travel, a global distributor of hotel accommodation and other ground related travel products where he was Group Chief Operating Officer for four years. Harrop will lead and oversee all of the company’s six operational offices teams, together with the technology teams, and report directly to CTI Chief Executive Officer, Ian White.
Evergreen Line Names New Box Ship
Evergreen Group today held the naming ceremony for Ever Lyric, the eighth of its L-type vessels built by CSBC Corporation in Taiwan. The ceremony took place at CSBC's Kaohsiung shipyard and was officiated by Raymond Lin, Evergreen Group's Vice Group Chairman. The official rope-cutting of the new 8,508 TEU vessel was performed by Jarijanti Buana, the wife of the Chairman of Evergreen Shipping Agency Indonesia.

Ceona, Seaweld Form Ghana Partnership
Ceona, SURF contractor with heavy subsea construction capabilities, has entered into a Joint Venture (JV) with Seaweld Engineering which will act as a strategic partner for offshore deepwater construction projects in Ghana. Vallihu Named Chief Executive of S. African Ports
South African port authority, Transnet National Ports Authority, has appointed Richard Vallihu as its new Chief Executive, following the retirement of Tau Morwe. Richard Vallihu took up the reins as Chief Executive of South African port authority, Transnet National Ports Authority, on April 1, 2015. He succeeds Tau Morwe, who led the company for a number of years before opting for retirement in March 2015.
Shell Ready for ECA Challenges
Since the implementation of Emission Control Areas (ECAs) on January 1, 2015, ships entering waters in the Baltic Sea; the North Sea; the North American ECA, including most of the U.S. and Canadian coast, as well as the French overseas collectivities of St. Pierre and Miquelon; and the U.S. Caribbean ECA, including Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands Sea had to use fuels with up to 0.1% sulphur content.
New Fuel Management System Launched
Diesel power engineering specialist Royston has introduced a next generation version of its Enginei fuel management system. According to the developer, the new integrated system, with a range of enhanced fuel data analysis and reporting options, has been developed in consultation with vessel operators and owners who are putting greater importance on the availability of detailed engine and mission critical information.

ClassNK Opens Office in Cadiz

Container Rates Fall on Declining Chinese Exports
Since February, freight rates on the three key container shipping lanes has left the erratic up and down movements behind only to slide week after week. On Friday April 10, 2015 the freight rate including ocean freight and surcharges, i.e. was quoted at USD 466 per TEU for the Shanghai to Europe trading lane. This is the lowest on record since the 2009. The new all-time low point comes on the back of deteriorating exports from China for three months running in 2015.
