Calecore has been contracted by ABB to supply a pre-lay survey of the Martin Linge PFS (Power from Shore) cable route to be conducted from the DP2 class vessel Seabed Worker with survey sensors mobilized to a 150HP Schilling HD WROV. The Martin Linge Field is located on the Norwegian Continental Shelf and the vessel will be mobilizing from Bergen, Norway in March 2015. Schottel Hydro Launches New Turbine Generation
The SIT Schottel Instream Turbine allows the harvesting of hydrokinetic energy for commercial projects at a reasonable cost. SIT makes hydrokinetic energy commercially viable for utility-scale and community-scale network applications. According to the designer, the SIT design purposely avoids complex subsystems: SIT features passive-adaptive composite blades with no need for any active pitch mechanism. Its drive train is standardized with a two-stage planetary gearbox and an induction generator.

Greenland Builds New Research Vessel
Greenland has an intense interest in maritime research and survey for the near coastal waters, thanks in part to a growing seafood sector, an extensive coastline and some 250 different species of fish. To meet the nation’s emerging need, Greenland had a fine 32.3-meter research vessel built at the Karstensen’s Shipyard in Skagen, Denmark. The vessel was named R/V Sanna by Helle Siegstad, Head of the Department of Fish and Shellfish, in a ceremony at Nuuk, Greenland in April of 2012.
