The joint venture agreement between Wärtsilä and China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) for the takeover of Wärtsilä's two-stroke engine business, which was announced in July 2014, has now been finalized. The required government and merger control approvals having been received, official closing took place on January 19, 2015. The company is owned 70% by CSSC and 30% by Wärtsilä, and is to be named Winterthur Gas & Diesel Ltd. (WinGD).
Alfa Laval Debuts High-pressure Freshwater Generator
Alfa Laval launched a high-pressure option for the Alfa Laval AQUA Blue freshwater generator. The option’s modifications will allow AQUA Blue to handle higher jacket water pressures than those in use today. Launched just over a year ago, the AQUA Blue freshwater generator employs a unique plate technology. Alfa Laval’s three-in-one AQUA plates allow evaporation, separation and condensation to occur within the same plate pack, which means only half the seawater flow and pumping energy are needed.
Damen’s Chinese Shipment En Route to Netherlands
To maintain the continuous availability of its wide range of built-for-stock vessels, Damen Shipyards Group is currently shipping a diverse cargo of 16 new pontoons and tugs, as well as numerous modular barges, from China to the Netherlands. The latest shipment represents cooperation between Damen’s various product divisions and numerous local partners in China, the shipbuilder said. To perform the shipment, Damen mobilized ZPMC’s Zhen Hua 28.
