SSI Launches ShipConstructor 2015 R2.1
SSI has today released ShipConstructor 2015 R2.1 software. The software release comes in response to emerging ship design, engineering and building trends as identified by SSI’s Client Council of industry leaders. The advisors on this software launch were representatives from U.S. and Canadian companies: Genoa Design, Glosten & Associates, Gunderson Marine and Trinity Marine Products. This group has similar production methods and/or design approaches.
Kongsberg Expands Louisiana Office, Training Facility
Kongsberg Maritime has purchased approximately 5.2 acres for new construction on an 82,980 sq ft office and training facility. Construction on the James Business Park property located on James Drive East in St. Rose, Louisiana is scheduled to begin this spring. Kongsberg Maritime moved its service department from Houston to Louisiana in 2003 establishing a small office in James Business Park with nine full-time employees.

New Survey Vessel Ordered for the Port of London
The Port of London Authority (PLA) has ordered a new purpose-built survey catamaran, a CTruk MPC19, due to enter service on the river Thames later this year. The vessel is will replace the PLA’s Yantlet vessel as she reaches the end of her service life, continuing the PLA Hydrography team’s survey work which facilitates safe navigation on the tidal Thames. As the U.K.’s busiest inland waterway, the river is a link for trade, travel and leisure and as home to the U.K.’s second largest port.

NAO Secures PSV Contracts with Oil Major
Nordic American Offshore Ltd. (NAO) informs that it has secured platform supply vessel (PSV) contracts with a major oil company. NAO’s two new contracts with are for four months firm periods, with further options for each vessel. NAO said the deal will secure firm employment for two of our vessels from February/March this year, and in the meantime they are operated in the spot market. The NAO vessels are operated in the North Sea.
