Danaos Corporation purchased a NAUTIS DNV Class A FMB Simulator and Instructor Station for training of its fleet members. The simulator will be delivered and installed by VSTEP at Danaos Shipping Co Ltd. Headquarters in Piraeus, Greece. The simulator purchased by Danaos Corporation included a NAUTIS DNV Class A FMB simulator with 240° horizontal field of view and an Instructor Station. It will be used to train navigation and maneuvering with the container vessels of the Danaos fleet.

Panama Canal Updates Maersk on Expansion
Within the framework of the centennial celebration, the Panama Canal Administrator Jorge L. Quijano received a Maersk Line delegation led by Søren Skou, CEO of Maersk Liner Business, to provide an update on the Expansion Program and discuss the future trends in the maritime industry. Administrator Quijano updated Maersk executives on the progress of the Expansion Program. He said that the plan is underway to ensure that the new locks will be open for transits in the beginning of 2016.
First Two Mooring Boats Launched for Port of Ras Laffan
Nakilat has celebrated the delivery of two 16-meter mooring boats built by shipbuilder Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar for towage operator Nakilat Svitzer Wijsmuller. The built-in-Qatar vessels will be operated at the Port of Ras Laffan. The two Stan Tug 1606 mooring boats, named Ras Al Allaj Qatar and Al Esaiwed, are the first of a seven-vessel order that Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar is currently working on for Nakilat Svitzer Wijsmuller.
Topaz Secures $75m Investment from SCPE
Topaz Energy and Marine, an offshore support vessel company with primary operations in the Caspian, Middle East, West Africa and Subsea operations in the North Sea and Gulf of Mexico, has announced a $75 million new equity investment in the business from Standard Chartered Private Equity (SCPE), one of the world’s leading emerging market private equity investors. Under the terms of the investment, SCPE will inject $75 million of equity in return for a 9.8% stake in the business.
