DNV GL is now launching an industry collaboration which will develop a simulation model that bridges functional winterization requirements and real physical conditions for drilling rigs, production platforms and vessels. Rolls-Royce today announced the completion of its acquisition of Rolls-Royce Power Systems (RRPS). The move follows an announcement made on March 7, 2014 that the Board of Management of Daimler AG had decided to exercise the put option relating to its 50% equity interest in RRPS and the announcement on April 16, 2014 that Rolls-Royce and Daimler had agreed on a fair market valuation for the shareholding of âŹ2.43 billion.

GPE Secures MARS Tanker Power Contract
Gresham Power Electronics (GPE), the Salisbury-based defence and commercial power conversion specialist, has secured a £1.18 million order to supply uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems to be fitted to Military Afloat Reach and Sustainability (MARS) tankers currently being built by Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME). To be delivered to the U.K. MoD, each MARS tanker requires a total complement of eight UPS systems of various power ratings.

Maersk to Raise Freight Rates from Asia to Europe
The world's biggest container shipping company Maersk Line, a unit of A.P. Moller-Maersk , said it plans to raise freight rates on routes from Asia to northern Europe by $400 per 20-foot container (TEU). The new rates will take effect from Sep. 1, the company said in a newsletter to shippers on Tuesday. Higher rates on the busiest freight routes between Asia and northern Europe would help companies, which have been struggling with overcapacity as a result of a weak global economy.
OWS Christens Damen Fast Crew Supplier
Offshore Wind Servicesâ (OWS) latest Damen vessel â the Fast Crew Supplier 2008 Offshore Waddenzee - was officially named at Damen Oranjewerf Amsterdam, on August 22. The FCS 2008 is the second Damen vessel ordered this year by the Dutch company, which is a specialist in the provision of crew transfer vessels to the offshore wind industry. Kogas Talks to Offload up to 10 Autumn LNG Cargoes
Korea Gas Corp. has approached long-term suppliers of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to defer up to 10 autumn cargos to winter, showing it is lumbered with excess supply and pulling out of spot markets, industry sources said. High stocks and weak demand prompted state-run Kogas, the world's biggest corporate buyer of LNG, to offload a number of cargos this summer through a combination of time-swap deals and by deferring deliveries from suppliers.
