Costa Concordia floats again; Dutch Crane barge Conquest MB1 stays around for assistance. The disaster cruise ship Costa Concordia floats again, and Dutch company Conquest Offshore reported that the work of its Conquest MB1 crane ship and her crew is almost done. In cooperation with a large group of international companies, Conquest Offshore has in the recent months helped to install the sponsons used to refloat the Costa Concordia.
Pan Ocean Orders OCTOPUS-Onboard for Heavy Lift Vessels
The Korean based global shipping company Pan Ocean, has ordered OCTOPUS-Onboard system from Amarcon for two semi-submersible heavy lift vessels. The state-of-the-art ship monitoring and advisory system will support the vessels’ route planning, optimization of speed, heading and fuel consumption. For the two semi-submerging heavy lift vessels, the Sun Rise and the Sun Shine, Amarcon will deliver an OCTOPUS-Onboard installation including motion monitoring and forecasting.
More than 1,700 Boat Migrants Rescued in 3 Days
Italy's search and rescue mission saved more than 1,700 migrants in the Mediterranean in the past three days and found one person dead on a half-submerged raft, the navy said on Tuesday. This year's calmer summer weather has seen record numbers of people attempt to cross the sea from North Africa to Italy, often on packed boats and leaking rafts. Many are fleeing poverty, war and military conscription.

BAE Systems informed that a huge section of the U.K. Royal Navy’s second Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carrier, HMS Prince of Wales, was loaded onto a barge in Glasgow over the weekend ahead of its departure to Rosyth later this month. Vard to Design, Build PSV for E.R. Offshore
Vard Holdings Limited announced that it has secured a contract for the design and construction of one Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) for E.R. Offshore. The vessel is a multifunctional PSV of VARD 1 08 design with a total length of 81 meters, beam of 18 meters and a cargo deck area of 830 m2. The vessel will be prepared for standby, rescue, firefighting and oil recovery operations. Delivery is scheduled from Vard Vung Tau in Vietnam in 2Q 2016. E.R.
