The Alexandria port authority has placed an order for two new tugs with the Egyptian Timsah Shipbuilding Company. Each vessel will be equipped with two VSP 28R5/234-2 Voith Schneider Propellers for a power of 3840kW. Two virtually identical Voith Water Tractors (VWT) were put into operation in Alexandria port and the Suez Canal in autumn 2012. Thanks to their reliability and high performance, the operator is continuing to rely on Voith propulsion for ongoing expansion of the fleet.

The Korean based global shipping company Pan Ocean, has ordered OCTOPUS-Onboard system from Amarcon for two semi-submersible heavy lift vessels. The state-of-the-art ship monitoring and advisory system will support the vessels’ route planning, optimization of speed, heading and fuel consumption. For the two semi-submerging heavy lift vessels, the Sun Rise and the Sun Shine, Amarcon will deliver an OCTOPUS-Onboard installation including motion monitoring and forecasting.

Vard to Design, Build PSV for E.R. Offshore
Vard Holdings Limited announced that it has secured a contract for the design and construction of one Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) for E.R. Offshore. The vessel is a multifunctional PSV of VARD 1 08 design with a total length of 81 meters, beam of 18 meters and a cargo deck area of 830 m2.
