ASAP Supplies Celebrates 25 Years
On April 1, 2014, it will be 25 years since Peter Edwards & Mark Reynolds officially started trading as ASAP Supplies. At 36 and 26 respectively, they were working for a marine engine supply company, and when the company stopped promoting the smaller engines and spares, they found they greatly missed spending time working with customers and solving their technical problems. Their aim and passion was to bring value to customers through technical support and knowledge.

Maritime Activity Boosts in Search for Flight 370
The maritime industry has ramped up contributions to the worldwide search for Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 as an international team scours for signs of the Boeing 777 which went missing nearly two weeks ago with 239 people on board. Seychelles CG Cadets Enter Seamanship Training
On Friday, March 21, 17 trainees who are part of the Basic Training Program for the Seychelles Coast Guard received training in seamanship skills on board the Dutch warship, HNLMS Evertsen, operating under NATO Ocean Shield Task Force 508. The Basic Training Program for the Seychelles Coast Guard is a 27 week program for new trainees that have been developed by the Coast Guard and EUCAP Nestor. The program is also supported by other international partners such as Operation Ocean Shield.

Port Canaveral Harbor Expansion Begins
Dispute remains over who pays for maintenance costs for federal channel. The $35 million harbor widening and deepening project at Port Canaveral to allow larger ships greater safety margins for sailing in and out of the port is scheduled to begin next month with completion in November 2014. The project to widen Port Canaveral’s 400-feet wide harbor by 100 feet and deepen the entrance by two feet to 46 feet cleared the final two U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permitting hurdles last week.
