Deltamarin Designs Hospital Ship
Deltamarin announced a design contract awarded by China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) for the new 37,000 GRT (Gross Register Tonnage) hospital ship to be built for Mercy Ships at Tianjin Xingang Shipyard. Deltamarin’s contract includes approval, procurement and detail design for the vessel, which will be the world’s largest civilian hospital ship, and the first of its kind in Deltamarin’s history.
Port of Hamburg on Growth Course

(GPA) reports that the launching ceremony of the AGOR 27 R/V Neil Armstrong was held at Dakota Creek Industries (DCI) in Anacortes, Wash., on February 22, 2014. The Panama Canal Authority is investing in especially powerful tugs for the Post-Panamax era: 14 tractor tugs and 13 ASD tugs with SCHOTTEL propulsion systems were commissioned in the last four years. The youngest generation of 14 tractor tugs delivered by Astilleros Armon Shipyard was recently completed. One tug after another started in Spain and travelled the high seas for about a month, on their own and under their own power. They have a bollard pull of 85 tons.

Transocean Profit Slides on Lower Rig Demand
Reuters – Transocean Ltd, owner of the world's largest offshore drilling fleet, said on Wednesday that fourth-quarter profit fell 49 percent from a year ago, hurt by lower rig utilization. MTU Friedrichshafen informs that 36 young people have just successfully completed their vocational training courses at Rolls-Royce Power Systems AG and its subsidiary MTU Friedrichshafen. The trainees completed technical and commercial courses lasting between two-and-a-half and three-and-a-half years. ʺProvided that their performance and conduct has been satisfactory, the trainees will be offered open-ended contracts,ʺ said Head of Training, Martin Stocker.
