Eastern Launches Second HOSMAX 310 Vessel
Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. announced the launching of the HOS Black Foot (Hull 206) on Friday January 17, 2014 for Hornbeck Offshore Services, LLC. The HOS Black Foot is Eastern’s second vessel in Hornbeck Offshore’s HOSMAX 310 class series. The launching event was held at Eastern’s Allanton facility with hundreds of Eastern employees and guests attending, including Naval Architecture students from the University of New Orleans, La. who were visiting the shipyard.
US Navy Ships Enter Black Sea
The U.S. 6th Fleet flag ship USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20), with 300 Sailors and Military Sealift Command civil service mariners onboard, arrived in the Black Sea Feb. 4 to conduct scheduled maritime security operations. USS Taylor (FFG 50) will arrive in the Black Sea Feb. Both ships will perform routine operations in the Black Sea to establish and enhance cooperation, mutual training and interoperability with regional partner nations and allies.

Incat Crowther Launches Pair of Catamaran Ferries
Incat Crowther announced the launch of Red Hook I and Cruz Bay I, a pair 25m Catamaran passenger ferries to operate in St Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Delivered by Midship Marine in Louisiana, these vessels follow on from the successful trio of UltraJet boats, also built by the yard to Incat Crowther’s design. The new vessels have a similar configuration, with a half-height wheelhouse allowing a completely open upper passenger deck.

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has won an order worth around €23 million for six active heave-compensated (AHC) subsea cranes from the Dutch IHC Merwede. DP Offshore Safety Vessel Launched at Zamakona Yard
Zamakona Yards say they have successfully launched the 'Ocean Marilin' for owners Atlantic Offshore A.S. at their shipyard in Pasajes in Northern Spain. The shipbuilder explains that the principal mission of the vessel will be to provide immediate attention in emergency situations to offshore oil rigs and installations. Being especially adapted to the severe climatic conditions of the North Sea, it will commence operations for the Oil Company TOTAL in the second semester of 2014.
