Bureau Veritas Class First Bangladesh-Built Ferry
Leading international classification society Bureau Veritas has classed the first passenger ferry built in Bangladesh for a Danish owner and operation in Danish waters. The 147-passenger Isefjord was built by Western Marine Shipyard Limited in Chittagong, Bangladesh and delivered to Danish operator Hundested Rorvig Faergefart A/S in February. The vessel meets all Danish Maritime Authority requirements and will fly the Danish flag.

Braemar Engineering, the marine engineering consultancy arm within the Braemar Shipping Services Group, has launched a new venture which recognizes the growing importance of LNG as a global maritime fuel source. It will be taking its experience and skills in dynamic positioning (DP), LNG in the marine environment, and LNG supply, and applying them to a new operation that will advise on every aspect of the use of LNG as a fuel source in the offshore sector.

Multiple agencies and Amver ship work together to rescue 10 from the Philippine Sea, 90 miles NE of Palau. The mariners in distress originated their voyage on a 60-foot traditional sailing canoe traveling from Palau to the outer islands of Yap State in the Federated States of Micronesia.

Malta’s Maritime Safety Investigation Unit issue a safety alert following lifeboat accident that took the lives of five 'Thomson Majesty' crew. "On 10 February 2013, the Maltese registered passenger vessel Thomson Majesty was berthed port side alongside in Santa Crux de La Palma. The ship commenced a General Emergency and Life Boat Drill for all crew members. Three lifeboats on the outboard side were to be lowered to the water and sent away for training purposes.

Konecranes Win Record Indonesian Order
Konecranes to deliver container handling equipment to Indonesian state-owned terminal operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III (Persero). The order comprises 10 ship-to-shore cranes, 20 automated stacking cranes and five straddle carriers. Delivery is scheduled for 2014 and 2016. The value of the order is not disclosed, but is more than €100 million (nearly US$131-million). The Indonesian state-owned terminal operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III (Persero), is also known as Pelindo III.
North Sea Platform Leak: Crew Evacuated
TAQA, the global energy company based in Abu Dhabi, confirms a hydrocarbon release detected in one of the Cormorant Alplha platform legs. The hydrocarbons were discovered at 09.40 hours local UK time on Saturday, 2, March during maintenance work. The platform and all pipeline infrastructure were shut down as a precaution and the company removed 71 non-essential personnel from the platform via crew change flights, reporting everyone safe and well.
