The 27th new Tamar class lifeboat was handed over to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) by Babcock , marking the last lifeboat to be built for the charity by Babcock under the existing contract. The 16-meter Tamar class slipway-launched lifeboat, originally developed by RNLI designers with Babcock, represented a major step forward in lifeboat design, being one of the most technically advanced lifeboats in the world.

Mobdock Facilitates Onsite Underwater Ship Repair
In February, Hydrex diver/technician teams carried out underwater stern tube seal repairs on a 139-meter container vessel in Port Everglades, Fla., close to the company’s office in Clearwater. The vessel was suffering from an oil leak, making a fast repair necessary. Using one of the company’s next generation flexible mobdocks the team was able to carry out the entire operation onsite and underwater, saving time and money for the owners.

NOAA Report Examines Shipwreck Oil Pollution Threat

Kalmar Heightens Six Quay Cranes at MSC Terminal
Kalmar, part of Cargotec, completed the heightening of six quay cranes at MSC Home Terminal, which is the largest container terminal in the port of Antwerp, Belgium. The project, undertaken by Kalmar's specialist Crane Services team, facilitates the continued expansion of the port by making it possible to handle larger container ships. The project involved increasing the hoisting height of all the quay cranes from 38 meters to 42 meters above quay level.
