Volvo Penta D13 Certified for EPA Tier 3
Volvo Penta D13 has now further been developed to meet EPA Tier 3 – the new marine environmental emission standard. The new version of D13 offers improved environmental properties with basically unchanged low-fuel consumption. The D13 is a diesel engine that has been developed within the Volvo Group. According to the manufacturer, it is currently in operation in more than 450,000 heavy-duty applications, including buses, trucks and construction equipment.
Wärtsilä to Design Heavy Construction Vessel for Subsea 7
Wärtsilä, a marine industry solutions and services provider, has been contracted to provide the design for a large heavy construction vessel (HCV). The ship is to be built for Subsea 7 S.A., the seabed-to-surface engineering, construction, and services contractor to the offshore energy industry worldwide, by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in South Korea. HHI is one of the world's largest ship building companies.

German Cruise Upgrades with Rolls-Royce Propulsion
Rolls-Royce Plc won a contract to supply its Promas Lite propulsion system to German based company AIDA Cruises as part of a technical upgrade of their Sphinx series cruise ships. Promas Lite is an integrated propeller and rudder system that increases efficiency and maneuverability, and is designed specifically for retrofitting to existing ships. AIDA Cruises, part of the Carnival Group, will install Promas Lite on their AidaSol cruise ship during dry docking in December this year.
