Eni presented the twelfth edition of World Oil and Gas Review, the annual statistical review of the world oil and gas market and the refining system. Oil and gas reserves continue to rise, confirming that operators are able to replace reserves put into production and to find new ones: a comparison of 1995 reserves with those of 2012 reveals an increase of almost 40%. In the past year, however, despite a 2% increase in oil reserves, those for gas remained largely flat (+0.4%).

Bluefin Acquires SeeByte
Bluefin Robotics, a provider of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs), announced that it has acquired SeeByte, Ltd., a provider of autonomous platform software that enhances the user experience and the capabilities of underwater sensors, vehicles and systems. SeeByte, headquartered in Edinburgh, Scotland, will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bluefin. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Zeeland Refinery launched CargoDocs for Barges, a system developed by Electronic Shipping Solutions (ESS) allowing for the electronic nomination of barges between counterparties and issuance of electronic sailing advices and barge documents by terminals in the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) market. Zeeland Refinery created a customized interface which allows nominations to be received directly within the company’s mass balance system.

Van Oord Contracts Damen for DP2 Cable Laying Vessel
Van Oord has ordered a new cable laying vessel. The ship will be built at Damen Shipyards Galati in Romania and will be completed at the end of 2014. The vessel is intended for the installation of electricity cables for offshore wind farms. Van Oord is making preparations for the Gemini offshore wind farm which will be constructed 60 kilometers to the north of Schiermonnikoog, one of the Dutch Wadden Islands. The cable-laying vessel will be deployed at that site, among many others.

Russian Floating Nuclear Plant: Reactors Loaded
The two reactors for Russia’s first floating nuclear power plant, due to be stationed in the Arctic, have been installed, reports "Barents Observer', citing Russia's state nuclear power company Rosenergoatom. Each of the KLT-40S reactors that were recently lifted onboard “Akademik Lomonosov” at the Baltisky Zavod has a power output of 35 MWe. San Diego firefighters knocked down an electrical fire that broke out Sunday aboard the 'Dorado Discovery', a 321-foot British-flagged research and survey ship docked at the 10th Avenue Marine Terminal, reports 'U~T San Diego', quoting city fire officials. The cruise ships, Carnival Elation, which was scheduled to arrive this morning, and the Carnival Conquest, scheduled to arrive Sunday, kept a safe and comfortable distance west of the storm and await reentry into the River.
