Veson Nautical, a developer of software that propels the commercial maritime industry, announced the opening of a new office in London, just steps from London Bridge. The new office will serve as a headquarters for Veson Nautical in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and will house dedicated sales, consulting, and technical professionals for these regions. “Europe has always been a key market for Veson Nautical. GE to Supply Avio Aero with Gas Turbine for French Frigate
GE Marine has received an order to supply one LM2500+G4 aeroderivative marine gas turbine to Avio Aero of Turin, Italy, a GE Marine System Supplier. The gas turbine will power the French Navy’s ninth FREMM frigate. Through Avio Aero, at least 18 LM2500+G4 gas turbines will provide propulsion for the Italian-French FREMM program, which includes six ships for the Italian Navy, 11 ships for the French Navy, and one ship for the Royal Moroccan Navy.

NASSCO to Construct Two Product Tankers for Seabulk
General Dynamics NASSCO, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics, has entered into a contract with Seabulk Tankers, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of SEACOR Holdings Inc., for the design and construction of two 50,000 deadweight ton LNG-conversion-ready product carriers each with a 330,000 barrel cargo capacity. Construction of the first tanker is scheduled to begin in late 2014, with deliveries scheduled for the second quarter of 2016 and first quarter of 2017.

Veth Propulsion Wins Z-drive Brazil Order
Holland- based Veth Propulsion has signed a contract for the delivery of 28 counter-rotating of Z-drives, type VZ-700-CR (700 kW/1800 rpm). The Z-drives are intended for seven aluminum catamarans, designed by CoCo Yachts Holland BV and for the State of Rio de Janeiro. The seven ferries of 78 meters have a capacity of 2000 passengers and will sail between Rio de Janeiro and Niterói, with the World Cup 2014 and Olympic Games 2016 transportation needs in mind.
