Customers Return for Rudder Ecospeed Applications
Over the last two months, the rudders of several types of vessels were given an Ecospeed protective coating at yards in China and Estonia. In total eight vessels, including some newbuilds, belonging to five different owners were treated. Four of these owners were returning customers. These owners had experienced firsthand the devastating effect of cavitation on rudders coated with a traditional coating system.

Diesel-Electric Units Prepared for Navy’s AGOR Project
During most of 2012 Cummins Northwest was busy with the procurement of the various subsystems and assembly of the diesel-electric units for the two Ocean Class Auxiliary General Purpose Oceanographic Research (AGOR) vessels building at Dakota Creek Shipyards. The ceremony has taken place at Huisman China’s new quay side in Zhangzhou, China, which was officially opened at the same time. The name-giving ceremony of the Happy Sky was performed by Ms. Erni Bartel, the partner of Joop Rodenburg, CEO of Huisman. Huisman and BigLift Shipping share a long history together in the design of heavy lift cranes and handling materials.
Sima Charters Signs Second CTruk Vessel
Ruud Lievaart, owner of Netherlands-based Sima Charters, has inked the agreement for a second CTruk 20T multi-purpose catamaran during Seawork International in Southampton this week. For CTruk this signing means that every client it works with has taken a second CTruk vessel, the company said. The new 18.5m composite workboat, to be named SC Falcon, is expected to join Sima Charters’ expanding fleet of offshore tender boats in February 2014.

Bollinger Shipyards Deliver DP 2 Tugboat to Crowley Maritime
Bollinger Shipyards have delivered the DP 2 classed 'Ocean Sky', the fourth of four Ocean-class tugs for Crowley Maritime Corporation. The first two Ocean Class vessels, the Ocean Wave and Ocean Wind, classed as DP1, were delivered in Q4 2012. Ocean Sky, sister vessel to the Ocean Sun, was delivered in May 2013. At 156 feet in length, the Ocean Sky and Ocean Sun are 10 feet longer than the first two vessels and are rated at 10,880 HP.
Korean Yard to Build Fourth Atwood Ultra-deepwater Drillship
An Atwood Oceanics subsidiary has entered into a turnkey construction contract with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering to construct a fourth ultra-deepwater drillship, to be named 'Atwood Archer'. The Atwood Archer is expected to be delivered by December31, 2015 at a total cost, including two blowout preventers , project management, drilling and handling tools and spares, of approximately $635-million.
