NAIAD Inflatables Delivers 10 Meter Pilot Boat

Naiad has just delivered a new 10.0 Meter Pilot Vessel, the DALTON PURSUIT, to its owner in Newfoundland, Canada. In addition to pilot work, the DALTON PURSUIT will provide commercial transport service for crew and small supplies to commercial ships moored off her home port. DALTON PURSUIT is based on Naiad's wide beam 10.0 meter platform, originally developed by Naiad for use by the US Department of Justice in anti-smuggling, anti-terrorism, and law enforcement operations.

The Staff of the Russian Black Sea Fleet said it faces information safety problems over plans to build a hotel in the immediate vicinity of its headquarters. The construction of a high-rise hotel building within 50 meters from the Black Sea Fleet headquarters in the Ukrainian city of Sevastopol is due to begin this year. āThe fleetās command is seriously concerned over plans to build a hotel near our headquarters,ā a Black Sea Fleet source said.

The destroyer USS John Paul Jones has rescued 24 Filipino mariners who had been stranded after an explosion disabled their tanker in the Persian Gulf. At the Cruise Shipping Miami Conference and Exhibition, Fincantieri took the opportunity to announce it has been awarded a contract from the U.S. Coast Guard for the construction of 40 boats, scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of 2013. Norfolk, Va. - Amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) hosted a Senate subcommittee field hearing on energy March 12, the first time since 1960 that a Senate hearing was held aboard a Navy vessel. Senator Jeanne Shaheen, chair of the Senate Subcommittee on Water and Power, was joined by Senator Mark Warner from Virginia.
