SEACOR Marine Chooses MTU engines

SEACOR Marine has selected marine diesel engines from the Tognum brand MTU for its latest pair of fast supply vessels. The two vessels, SEACOR Lynx and SEACOR Leopard, will have an overall length of 190 feet and the capacity to carry up to 150 passengers. The vessels will also have the capacity to carry 150 tons of deck cargo and the ability to achieve speeds of 46 knots. Each vessel will be powered by four MTU 16V 4000 M73L engines rated at 3,860 bhp at 2,050 RPM.

The results show that high fuel costs will result in a drive towards more energy efficient ships ahead of the EEDI regulatory timeframe. Fuel choices up to 2020 will be driven by the time spent in an Emissions Control Area (ECA), but distillate is a more likely option than scrubbers for most ships towards 2020. By 2020, it is expected that new tankers, bulkers and container vessels will be up to 30 per cent more energy efficient than today’s newbuildings.
Kleven Maritime to Build Subsea Construction Vessel for Eidesvik

Kleven Maritime has signed a contract with Norwegian based ship owner Eidesvik on the delivery of a large offshore subsea construction vessel of SALT 301 OCV-design by Salt Ship Design. The vessel is to be built in Kleven Maritime’s shipyard Kleven Verft in Ulsteinvik, Norway. The total contract value is around 1.1 billion NOK. The contract also includes an option for a further vessel of the same type.

INS Tarkash (serial number 01355) is the second Project 11356 frigate of a three-ship series ordered by India for its navy. The lead ship – INS Teg (F45) – was handed over to the customer on Apr 27, 2012 and is currently heading for her homebase Visakhapatnam. According to the ship's construction manager Sergei Schugorev, "the trials program is pretty eventful. The ship is to be delivered in October, so we have an array of works to do.
