Wärtsilä signed a contract with China Oilfield Services Ltd (COSL) to supply the designs for a total of six new ships. Wärtsilä Wins Subsea 7 DSV Design Deal
Wärtsilä signed a contract for the design of a new diving support vessel (DSV) to be built for Subsea 7. The new VS 4725 DSV design was created by Wärtsilä Ship Design specifically for this vessel, which will be built at the Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) shipyard in Korea. The contract was signed with HHI in December, and the vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2015. The vessel is intended for North Sea diving operations on a year round basis.
Raaijmakers: Offshore Sales Director for IHC Merwede
René Raaijmakers has been appointed as IHC Merwede’s new Offshore Sales Director. He succeeded the previous incumbent Twan Voogt on 1 December 2012. Mr Raaijmakers joined IHC Merwede’s in April 2012 as Product Director of the Renewables department and Manager of IHC Offshore Systems. In his new role, he will be responsible for all commercial activities within the Offshore division. He began his career with Bluewater, a leading offshore FPSO contractor and worked there for 14 years.
Churchill Drilling Tools Invests £2.5 Million
Drilling systems specialist Churchill Drilling Tools has announced a £2.5 million investment in its Aberdeen base to meet increasing global demand for its innovative technologies. The company has invested in a number of units adjacent to its existing Crombie Road premises to create a 1.65-acre site, which will be upgraded over the next 3-4 years. The refurbishments will include research and development facilities, increased capacity for new product assembly and service lines and offices.
Damen Acquires French Ship Repair Yard
As of this week, Damen Shipyards Group is the new owner of French shiprepair yard Arno Dunkerque, the only operator for ship repair and conversion in the 3rd largest French port, Dunkirk. The yard will continue its ship repair and conversion services. Furthermore, its personnel and management will remain in place, guaranteeing a seamless transition of the yard into the Damen Shipyards Group, which currently consists of more than 45 shipyards, repair & conversion yards and related companies.
