Chinese Shipyard to Construct Havyard Designed PSV's
Basic Offshore contracts with CSSC Guangzhou Huangpu Shipbuilding to build two Havyard 832 L SE Platform Supply Vessels. Basic Offshore is a newly-established shipping company with its main focus on the market in West Africa, and they have an option of buying an additional six Havyard 832 L SE designed vessels from the shipyard. Both new ships on order are to be delivered in 2014. The Chinese state-owned shipyard CSSC Guangzhou Huangpu Shipbuilding CO. Ltd.
TK Foundation Donates to Mercy Ships
Mercy Ships Maritime Training Center buys breathing apparatus with part of a US$225,750 grant from TK Foundation. Since 1978, Mercy Ships has used hospital ships to deliver world-class medical care to developing countries with limited available medical care. Providing safety training for crew is a high priority. The Basic Fire-Fighting (BFF) Coast Guard-approved course requires Mercy Ships to have 30 SCBA units.
First Strategic Marine WSV Delivered
Australian shipbuilder Strategic Marine delivers first of 8 Wind Farm Support Vessels (WSV) from its Singapore shipyard. The 21 metre multipurpose vessel was built at the company's recently expanded Singapore shipyard for Madliena Shipping (Jersey) Ltd and will be managed by Njord Offshore Limited, a subsidiary of Norse Management UK, to be employed in wind farm crew transfer and support in European waters.
