Great Lakes Ore Trade Off 7 PCT in September

Iron ore shipments on the Great Lakes totaled 5.9 million tons in September, a decrease of 7.3 percent compared to August, and 7 percent below the level of a year ago. Shipments were, however, 6.1 percent ahead of Septemberās 5-year average. Shipments from U.S. ports totaled 5,052,532 tons, a decrease of 10.2 percent compared to a year ago. Included in that total were 360,000 tons shipped to QuĆ©bec City for final delivery overseas.
Wrecked LPG Freighter Removed from Taiwan Strait

Following four months of challenging operations and weather delays, RESOLVE Salvage & Fire, (ASIA) Pte Ltd. has announced completion of the wreck removal of the freighter LPG OBERON from the Taiwan Strait. The Oberon, loaded with volatile Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) 1- Butene, had grounded and sustained extensive hull damage early this year, seven miles from the Penghu archipelago and 30 miles northwest of Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

First Permanent Mooring Work for InterMoor in China

InterMoor, an Acteon company, has completed its first permanent mooring work in the Lufeng oilfield, South China Sea. This project was also the companyās first for Chinese installation contractor China Offshore Oil Engineering Co. Ltd. The Nanhai Sheng Kai floating, storage and offloading unit (FSOU) has been in service since 1992, surpassing its 12-year original estimated design life. Consequently, its subsea mooring system had begun to deteriorate and corrode.

Time charters for Greece-based Hellenic Carriers' bulk ships 'Konstantinos D' & 'Hellenic Wind' have been fixed. The M/V Konstantinos D has been fixed for a period of 4-6 months at a daily gross hire rate of US$ 7,600. The charter commenced on 29 September 2012, the earliest expiration date is on 29 January 2013 and the latest on 29 March 2013.
