Hammerfest LNG Plant Resumes Production
The Norwegian LNG plant was shut down due to water ingress in natural gas driers, but is now back in production. Large amounts of natural gas are sent ashore and cooled down at Hammerfest LNG on Melkøya, the world’s most northerly and Europe’s first export facility for LNG from Snøhvit, the first petroleum development in the Barents Sea that has no installations above the sea’s surface. Statoil’s share of production from Snøhvit comprises roughly 50,000 barrels of oil equivalents per day.
Container Crane Maker Liebherr Gets DP World Melbourne Order
Ireland-based Liebherr to supply a ship-to-shore container crane to handle 'Post-Panamax' ships at DP World Melbourne. The crane has a waterside outreach of 50m a span of 25.3m and a landside backreach of 20m. The S.W.L. of the crane is 65 tonnes under twin lift spreader with a lift height of 38m under spreader. Hoist speeds are 70-180m/min, trolley speed is 240m/min and crane travel speed is 50 m/min. Crane drives are Liebherr A.C.

Ailing German Shipyard Appoints New CEO
Rüdiger Fuchs to become new Chief Executive Officer of P+S Werften, aims to re-define the German shipyard's business model. The experienced industry manager and qualified engineer (Daimler Group, Airbus and Sietas Group) will take over management of the company from Dr. Dieter Brammertz, who is leaving P+S as planned.
