BRP Begins Testing Next Generation Biofuel

BRP begins a program to test butanol-extended fuel in a variety of recreational marine engines for Argonne National Laboratory, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energyâs Vehicle Technologies Office. Butanol-extended fuel will be tested as an alternative to gasoline containing 15 percent ethanol (E15). The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) granted a waiver allowing up to 15 percent ethanol in gasoline.

Arctic-Ready Seismic Workboat Davits

Norwayâs Ulstein yard has delivered the next generation seismic research vessel Polarcus Amani to marine geophysical company Polarcus. The 92 mloa vessel is of the SX134 design and is designed and built for operations in Arctic waters. Vestdavit has supplied two PLR-11000 workboat davits and one PLR-3600 MOB davit for the vessel. Vestdavit is proud to be the sole supplier of workboat davits to Polarcusâ fleet of eight advanced seismic vessels.

Australian Customs Opt for Vestdavit

Vestdavit has been contracted by shipbuilder Austal to supply its state-of-theart PLAR-6500 davits to eight new Cape Class Patrol Boats (CCPBs) to be built for the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service. Austal will build the 58.1 m Cape Class Patrol Boats at its shipyard in Henderson, Western Australia for delivery between March 2013 and August 2015. The patrol boats will play a significant role in protecting Australiaâs borders from multiple maritime threats.
Hapag-Lloyd: Revenue, Volume Up in Q1

Despite the persistently challenging environment in the industry, Hapag-Lloyd increased its transport volume and revenue in the first quarter of 2012. The average freight rate was $1,484/TEU in Q1, down around 5% on the previous yearâs figure of $ 1,563/TEU. Revenue totaled EUR 1.6 billion in the first three months of this year â an 8% rise compared to Q1 2011. This was attributable to an increase of approximately 11% in the transport volume, which climbed to 1.32 million TEU.
