Transpetro Receives Proposals For The Construction of Eight Product Ships
This Friday, March 25, Transpetro received the technical and commercial proposals concerning the bidding for eight ships to be used in the transportation of oil by-products under the Fleet Modernization and Expansion Program (Promef). Proposals were received from Estaleiro Ilha S.A. (Eisa) and Estaleiro Mauá, both established in Rio de Janeiro. Initially, the Bid Committee will review the technical proposals, according to the requirements in the bid notice.
Mukilteo Terminal Work Completed Ahead of Schedule
MUKILTEO - A third weekend closure of the Mukilteo Ferry Terminal April 1-3 won't be necessary, as originally planned, because major preservation work was completed ahead of schedule on Sunday. Additional preservation work will continue for the next month during the evenings, but will not disrupt service. "I greatly appreciate the patience and flexibility of our Whidbey Island and Mukilteo customers," said David Moseley, assistant secretary for Washington State Ferries (WSF).

The time charter party of the Cap Victor (2007 -158,853 dwt) with BP and the time charter party of the Fraternity (2009 – 157,714 dwt) with Vitol have been extended with 24 and 12 months respectively. On 10 February 2010, the company took delivery of the newbuilding Suezmax Eugenie (2010 – 157,677 dwt) from Samsung Heavy Industries, Koje Island, South Korea. The vessel, which is owned 50%-50% in joint venture with JM Maritime, is being operated on the spot market.

Incat Crowther Redefines Wind Farm Service Craft
Incat Crowther announced the launch of the 57.4-ft catamaran, Santa Ana, and the completion of extensive sea trials. The Santa Ana is specificaly designed for the wind farm service industry. Built by Lyme Boats in the UK, Santa Ana features Incat Crowther’s hull form. Operator P&O Maritime Services saw the platform’s potential for wind farm service and worked with Lyme Boats and Incat Crowther to develop the vessel’s design.
Port of Indiana Welcomes First Ship of The Season
PORTAGE, Ind. – The Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor welcomes the first ship of the 2011 international shipping season with a ceremony on Tuesday, March 29, at noon, local time. A small group of invited guests and media will board the M/V Avonborg for a brief ceremony and a presentation of gifts to the ship’s captain. The Avonborg was the first ship through the St. Lambert lock in Québec, Canada, as the St. Lawrence Seaway opened its 53rd shipping season on March 22.
