G&G Shipping Orders 190-ft Landing Craft
G&G Shipping announces that it has signed and awarded a contract for new construction of a shallow draft 190’ roll-on, roll-off, landing craft to be built by St. Johns Shipbuilding in Palatka, Florida. Construction of the yet-to-be-named vessel will be performed at St. Johns Shipbuilding’s 90 acre, state-of-the-art facility located near Jacksonville, Florida. Delivery of the vessel is expected November 2010.
Bisso Marine Loads Umbilical Reel
Bisso Marine successfully loaded a 281-ton umbilical reel onto an offshore installation vessel. Using the 700-ton D/B Cappy Bisso, the crew loaded the 281-ton umbilical reel from shore to the installation vessel for transport to a deepwater location 190 miles south of New Orleans in the Gulf of Mexico. Since 1890, Bisso Marine has provided quality services to the marine and energy industries, offering marine construction, pipe laying, salvage, heavy-lift and diving services.

Inauguration of the Costa Deliziosa
Feb. 23 saw the staging in Dubai of the inauguration ceremony for the Costa Deliziosa, the new diamond of the Costa Cruises fleet. The Costa Deliziosa has a 92,600 gross tonnage and a total guest capacity of 2,826. She was built at Fincantieri’s Venice-Marghera yard in Italy with the labor of around 3,000 people, comprising both the shipyard’s own employees and those of about 500 contracted suppliers, most of which are Italian firms, with a total investment worth $609m.
