MV Hannibal II Pirated in Somali Basin
Early on the morning of Nov. 11, the MV Hannibal II, a Panamanian-flagged vessel, was pirated whilst on route from Malaysia to Suez. The 24,105 tonne chemical tanker was carrying vegetable oils from Pasir Gudang to Suez at the time. The master of the vessel reported that he had been attacked and boarded by pirates in an area some 860 nautical miles East of The Horn of Africa which is considerably closer to India than it is to Somalia. The MV Hannibal II has a total of 31 crew on board.
Great Lakes Shipyard Builds Barges for Corps of Engineers
Great Lakes Shipyard, Cleveland, Ohio, completed construction and delivery of two new barges for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The barges will be used to perform critical maintenance and inspections of lock and dam facilities on the upper Mississippi River lock and dam section. One of the barges will service Lock and Dam 16 in Illinois City, Ill. while the other one will service Lock and Dam 18 in Gladstone, Ill.

SeaArk Marine, Inc. recently delivered Isla Tesoro, a 55-ft Dauntless RAM Pilot boat, to the Armada Nacional De Colombia. The vessel is assigned to DIMAR at the Port of Cartagena.
