Dept. of Interior, Moose Boats Contract
Moose Boats, an aluminum boat manufacturer, has been awarded a contract from US Department of the Interior – US Park Police, for a M1-44 Patrol Boat. This is a 44-ft all aluminum catamaran powered by twin 600hp Cummins diesel engines coupled with twin Hamilton 322 water-jets. This vessel is designed to attain a top speed of 40 knots, cruise at approximately 30 knots and will be used for security patrol of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.

The morning May 7, the EU NAVFOR Swedish Maritime Patrol Aircraft detected another Pirate Action Group (PAG), in the middle of Somali Basin. EU NAVFOR Netherlands warship Johan de Witt, only 30 Nautical Miles from the position, was sent to intercept the suspected pirates by the Force Commander Jan Thörnqvist onboard the Flag ship HSwMS Carlskrona. In mid-afternoon, HNLMS Johan de Witt found the PAG, consisting of one Whaler and two skiffs with a total of 11suspected pirates.
Kvichak Delivers Rapid Response Skimmers
Kvichak Marine Industries recently delivered a 30-ft Rapid Response Skimmer to Environmental Safety & Health (ES&H) in Houma, La. This new skimmer will join their existing fleet of Kvichak skimmers currently involved in the oil spill clean up effort in the Gulf of Mexico. The rapid-response, shallow-water vessel is ideally suited for use on oil spills in waterways, bays, and harbors. The all-aluminum skimmer is 30.3-ft long, with a beam of 8-ft and a draft of 2.5 ft and is easily trailerable.
