Ultrajet Propels Kyungnam-Do’s News Boat
New owners Kyungnam-Do of Korea, has just taken delivery of a twin UltraJet 575 propelled fire boat for service in the Masan Port of Korea. Built by Gwangdong FRP Co., this rapid response fire and rescue craft has an overall length of 86 ft and a beam of 16.7 ft. Twin 1360 kW (1825 hp) Caterpillar C32 DITA engines power the UltraJet 575 waterjets via Reintjes WVS430/1 gearboxes with a ratio of 1.48:1.
New Chemical Tanker Joins Hellespont Fleet
Hamburg-based Hellespont Tankers has taken delivery of the Hellespont Centurion, the first of a serious of eight 17,000 dwt IMO-2 chemical tankers. Hellespont Tankers will commercially manage the vessel, which has been entered into the Hamburg-based Seatramp Intermediate Tanker Pool. Technical management will be carried out by Hellespont Hammonia. Built at Korea's Sekwang Shipbuilding yard the vessel can load fifteen different grades in epoxy coated tanks.
Damen Choose Ultrajet & Jetmaster
Damen Shipyards Gorinchem has completed a new high speed craft which is available in two options - the Damen Stan Patrol 1204 and the Damen Fast Crew Supplier 1204. This craft replaces the Damen AluCat 1104 and the 1204. The Damen Stan Patrol is built in both aluminium and GRP and has been built to carry out patrol, surveillance, SAR and crew supply duties. Damen’s design criteria included operational versatility, strength, speed and ease of build.
EU Naval Force Headquarters Command Moves
At a ceremony in the Red Sea onboard the EU NAVFOR Spanish warship Numancia Force Commander Captain (N) Juan Garat Caramé, handed over Command of the FHQ to Commodore Pieter Bindt of the Netherlands. Commodore Bindt will lead the multinational FHQ from the EU NAVFOR Netherlands warship HNLMS Evertsen for the next four months. The EU NAVFOR warships Numancia and Evertsen met north of the narrow straight Bab al Mandeb, in the southern Red Sea.
