Panama Canal, Port Everglades Alliance
The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Port Everglades yesterday. ACP Administrator/CEO Alberto Alemán Zubieta and Port Everglades Director Phillip C. Allen signed the MOU during a ceremony held in Panama, agreeing to encourage new business and trade between both organizations. By signing the MOU, the ACP and Port Everglades agree to exchange information about their latest modernization efforts.

The Henderson Australia-based boat builder Strategic Marine has operated a boat building facility in Singapore for a number of years. In May and June they launched a pair of the 131.2-ft crew boats there. In February this year they held the official opened a new yard in Vung Tau City Vietnam. At the same time their new yard, a joint venture with Servicies Industriales Navales, in Mazatlan Mexico has a pair of 170.6 X 32.8-ft crew boats under construction for a 2009/10 delivery.

Viking Receives 2,600 bhp MTU Series 2000
Viking Yacht Company is the first in North America to take delivery of MTU 16V 2000 M94 engines. The first of the 16V configurations, which has a standard setting 2,600 bhp at 2,450 rpm, has been delivered to Viking Yacht Company for installation in a new 82-ft Sportfishing vessel. MTU distributor Johnson and Towers delivered a pair of the engines to Viking’s New Gretna, N.J. facility, where the vessel is being built.
