DYT Makes Large Yacht Shipments
In late February, Dockwise Yacht Transport’s (DYT) 456 ft Super Servant 3 left Port Everglades for Toulon, unloading 18 yachts and loading one in St. Thomas, then moved on to Martinique where it loaded 18 more yachts, totaling 32 power and sailing yachts for a final cargo value of $140m. In early March, the second of DYT’s fleet of semi-submersible transport ships, the 556 ft Super Servant 4, departed from Port Everglades, heading to Palma de Mallorca with another $140m worth of yachts.

LM500 Gas Turbines for Republic of Korea Navy
GE Marine reports that it will supply Samsung Techwin, Republic of Korea (ROK), with LM500 gas turbines to power PK(X) patrol boats to be built as part of phase two of this ROK Navy fast patrol boat program. The first PK(X) Yoon Young-ha has already been launched at Hanjin Heavy Industries’ Busan, ROK shipyard. “We are delighted that the ROK Navy selected LM500 propulsion system commonality for the next PK(X) patrol boats,” said Brien Bolsinger, general manager, GE Marine, Evendale, Ohio.

Proposed Name Change, Statoil ASA
The board of directors of StatoilHydro will propose to the company’s Annual General Meeting on 19 May that the company name be changed to Statoil ASA. On 27 February this year, the board of directors received a letter from the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy which stated that “the Norwegian State at the Annual General Meeting will only vote for proposals which include the name Statoil, either alone or as the dominating part of a new name”.

New Crewboat from Horizon Shipbuilding
The Nigerian firm Fymak Marine & Oil Services has recently taken delivery of a new crewboat designed and built by Horizon Shipbuilding of Bayou LaBatre, Alabama. The M/V Chinyelugo is 170 ft long with a 31 ft beam and 13.5 ft molded depth. Propulsion on the aluminum vessel is provided by four Cummins KTA-50 M2 engines each delivering 1800 HP at 1800 RPM through Twin Disc MGX 6848 gears with 2.58:1 ratios to Hamilton HM811 water jets. The crewboat has a design speed of 30 knots.
