September 30, 2004

Wärtsilä has launched Wärtsilä Auxpac, a new range of medium- and high-speed standard marine generating sets. Wärtsilä Auxpac generating sets ensure the availability of electrical power onboard marine vessels. Thanks to their modular design they can be supplied fast and at a competitive price. They are easy to install and operate and they provide low operating costs. The medium-speed generating sets are based on the Wärtsilä 20 and 26 engines and run on heavy fuel oil. The high-speed generating sets run on marine gas oil (=MGO) and are based on Volvo Penta engines, for which Wärtsilä has a sales and service agreement. The Wärtsilä service organization with more than 6000 professionals worldwide guarantees complete operation and maintenance support and spare parts service for the Wärtsilä Auxpac generating sets. Wärtsilä Auxpac generating sets have already attracted considerable interest from shipbuilders and shipowners and the first orders for this product have been received.
