Interest in New TCA Turbocharger Generation

Dr. Wolfram Lausch, Director of MAN B&W Diesel’s Marine-Division summed up the positive results from this year’s trade fair in Hamburg: “The SMM fully came up to our expectations. Despite tight economic conditions, we were able to reach our goal, i.e. to be “prime movers” in the market.” MAN B&W used the 5-days trade fair both as a show window for their present new developments and for establishing contacts with customers from all over the world. With more than 40 000 visitors, the Hamburg trade fair set up a new record attendance. The new TCA turbocharger series, represented by the TCA77 exhibit, attracted special attention. After intensive talks with customers at the stand, the sale of twelve TCA77 turbochargers for current vessel projects is now, only 2 weeks later, not far from being closed. In addition, the radial variant of the new TC series, which is presently still in the development phase, furnished a further topic for conversation. The new RK280 engine caused lively discussions at the Hamburg fair. Shipbuilders of fast ferries and Navy representatives made extensive inquiries. Also the two-stroke range was definitely satisfied. The MC engines are far and away the world’s most successful engine series.
