Fincantieri Marine Group’s Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding (FBS) has delivered the Articulated Tug Barge unit (ATB) Barbara Carol Ann Moran and the 110,000-barrel barge Louisiana to Moran Towing Corporation.

The 5,300-HP, 121-foot vessel is certified ABS Class +A-1 Towing Service, +AMS, and is equipped with state-of-the-art navigation and communications technology. The ATB unit was delivered on the exact day called for by the contract and will work the East Coast of the United States and the Gulf of Mexico.

This is the third delivery to Moran under a 2014 Contract, with a tank barge delivered in May of 2015, and another ATB—the tug Leigh Ann Moran and tank barge Mississippi—delivered December 1, 2015.

Todd Thayse, Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding Vice President and General Manager, commented on the significance of the most recent delivery: “The Barbara Carol Ann Moran is an excellent example and typical of the ships built by FBS,” he said. “They’re manufactured to specific customer requirements, under the highest standards of quality, and with an emphasis of on-time delivery.”

“These vessels confirm Fincantieri’s commitment to continue to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations,” added Francesco Valente, President and CEO of Fincantieri Marine Group. “Building long-term customer relationships is a pillar of our business and essential to guarantee stability of operations and employment, as well as our ability to invest in innovation and technology.”
